Beyond the answers - interesting background to this quiz

The enduring appeal of a 1990s Britpop classic

Oasis released Wonderwall in 1995 as part of their second album, (What's the Story) Morning Glory?. The song's title was borrowed from a 1968 instrumental film soundtrack by George Harrison, though the lyrics are unrelated to it. Wonderwall became one of the defining tracks of the Britpop era and remains widely recognised decades later, frequently covered by other artists and a staple of acoustic guitar playlists.

Technetium - the first artificially produced element

Technetium, symbol Tc, holds a special place in the periodic table. It was the first element to be produced artificially, created in 1937 by Italian scientists Carlo Perrier and Emilio Segrè. Its name comes from the Greek word technetos, meaning artificial. Unlike most naturally occurring elements, technetium has no stable isotopes, which means every form of it is radioactive.

The real-world inspiration behind Winnie-the-Pooh's home

Winnie-the-Pooh lives in the Hundred Acre Wood, a fictional setting created by author A. A. Milne. The location was inspired by Ashdown Forest in East Sussex, England, where Milne's son Christopher Robin played as a child. Several places in the real forest correspond to spots in the books, and the area continues to attract visitors who want to see the landscapes that shaped the stories.

The many currencies of Latin America

Peru uses the sol as its official currency. The name has deep historical roots - it was also used for Peru's currency in the 19th century before being replaced and later reintroduced in 1991. The word sol is Spanish for sun, a fitting name for a country whose ancient Inca civilisation worshipped a sun god. The modern sol replaced the inti as part of efforts to stabilise the Peruvian economy.
